Your physician's role
Diagnosis belongs to your physician and a sleep study.

Loud chronic snoring, gasping awake, morning headaches and daytime exhaustion can be signs of obstructive sleep apnea. If your physician has diagnosed you with mild to moderate OSA, a custom oral appliance may be an alternative to CPAP worth discussing.
A SomnoDent appliance is a custom-fitted device, made from impressions of your teeth, that holds your lower jaw slightly forward while you sleep. That keeps your airway open. You can talk and drink while wearing it, which is why many patients find it easier to live with than a mask.
Diagnosis belongs to your physician and a sleep study.
Our role begins after diagnosis: we evaluate whether an oral appliance suits your case, take the impressions, fit and adjust the device, and coordinate with your doctor. If CPAP or another treatment serves you better, we will say so.
Loud ongoing snoring with pauses. Waking with a dry throat or headache. Sleepiness at the wheel. A bed partner who has noticed you stop breathing. If any of this sounds familiar, ask your physician about a sleep evaluation – and bring us the results.
